I was leading this project at that time called "Everest" - about a young yeti captured and lost in Shanghai. A group of kids would join him helping to find his way home in the Himalayas, on an adventuress journey across beautiful China. Developing the look of the film, I worked very closely with the character designer Nico Marlet, from his concepts, painting them for presentations, and working with modeling and surfacing to final delivery. We had variety of very different environments. The homey neighborhood, the big city of Shanghai, the beautiful Countryside, the majestic Himalayas and the sacred place of The Spring of Life. There was a dream sequence on the journey to the Himalayas, and I pitched it to be done in watercolor, as an homage to the traditional Chinese paintings. I did a series of watercolor paintings to illustrate it.
